Suspected armed bandits have kidnapped the wife and daughter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman of Sakpefu community in Patigi Local Government Area, Kwara State, Alhaji Muhammad Swasun.
The incident reportedly happened late Sunday night when the attackers invaded the community, firing several shots to scare residents before heading straight to the chairman’s residence.
The victims, identified as Hajiya Fatima, the chairman’s wife, and his daughter, Amina, were whisked away after the assailants forced their way into the house.
An eyewitness recounted: “It was around 11 p.m. when they came. The sound of gunfire scattered everyone. They didn’t waste time; they went directly to the chairman’s home and left with his wife and daughter. Nobody can tell where they’ve taken them.”
Local vigilante groups were said to have launched a search operation immediately after the abduction, but as of the time of filing this report, no breakthrough had been recorded.
Effort to get the reaction of the Kwara State Police Command spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi were futile as she did not picked calls put through her line on Monday morning.
