Tanzanian singer Jux has shared the emotional journey he embarked on to convince his fiancée, Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nigerian actress Iyabo Ojo, to convert to Islam ahead of their highly anticipated wedding which was held in April, 2025.
In a recent interview with Afrikmedia, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux opened up about the emotional and spiritual journey of helping Priscilla, the daughter of Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo, navigate a major shift in her religious beliefs.
He attributed his ability to support her through the transformation to the guidance and encouragement he consistently received from experienced Islamic scholars and trusted spiritual mentors.
Juma Jux highlighted the value of a patient and compassionate method, sharing that mentors had urged him to have meaningful conversations with Priscilla about Islam instead of pressuring her into immediate conversion.
He went on to disclose that earning her understanding and eventual acceptance of the religion was a gradual process that demanded both dedication and emotional sensitivity.
“I knew everything when it came to my wedding. I had dreamt about it and I was so lucky to find someone who also wanted the same thing as me.
“It was a little bit difficult convincing her, but I was receiving lessons from religious leaders and people who are keen about Islam. So they told me that there was a way that I could convince my wife to join the religion.
“They said I should go with her slowly, teach her this and that, tell her this and that, although it took time but she later understood,” he said.
