The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ilorin West Local Government chairmanship position in the recently concluded council polls, Musbau Eshinrogunjo, has reportedly been apprehended by security agents believed to be from the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to witnesses who requested anonymity, the arrest took place in dramatic fashion as operatives, clad in tactical gear, stormed Eshinrogunjo’s residence in a swift, forceful operation. The officers, said to be heavily armed, allegedly refused to provide any explanation or identification when approached by concerned family members.

There is still no confirmation on whether Eshinrogunjo was served with an official summons or informed of the reason behind the arrest prior to the incident.

Reacting to the development, the PDP’s spokesperson in Kwara State, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, described the arrest as deeply troubling. He stated that “it would be most unfortunate if this arrest is politically motivated,” stressing that “being a member of the opposition should never be treated as a crime by those in power.”

Adewara further noted that while the party awaits formal clarification on the matter, “the PDP in Kwara will not be intimidated into silence by the actions of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and his agents, who, having lost every strand of goodwill among the people, are now resorting to military-style crackdowns in a desperate bid to silence dissent.”
