Don’t personalise public wealth, cleric warns politicians

A cleric in Ilorin, has sounded a stern warning to the political office holders from siphoning the public fund to their personal accounts and use.
This was said on Friday evening at a Ramadan Tafsir ,by the Imam of Alasela Mosque, Taiwo area of Ilorin, Imam Abdulmutallib Alasela.
He admonished the political office holders to desist from hoarding or laying claim to the benefits and rights of their people that voted for them.
In his statement, Alasela noted that, “The reason why the people voted for them is because of the trust they have in them to deliver good representation and governance to them,
“If you think the people have no power to hold you to account for all your deeds,do not forget that Allah will surely repay you for your actions and punish you with eternal damnation” .he added.
Alasela stressed that Allah is against any leader that takes advantage of the power of leadership to cheat or usurp what rightly belong to the subordinates.
The Mufasir also urged the people to ensure that they only feed from what is pure from the endowment of Allah.
In his remark, the Imam also warned the people to avoid anything that is Haram in term of material wealth, in his own words, “Do not amass wealth through Haram means, fear the day you will give account to Allah,
“Feeding and acquiring wealth through haram means also stand in the way of prayer and it takes one far away from mercy of Allah” ,he added.
The cleric however encouraged the people to seek repentance for their sins and never return to their wrong ways.
He also stated that, All those that have done wrong in the past and do not return to the ways, Allah will surely forgive them.
He added that, “Surely Allah is oft forgiving and Anyone that Allah has forgiven, He will also shower His blessings on the person”.
Alasela also preached the unity of Allah, he stated that, “All those who want to return to Allah in bliss should be conscious of the oneness of Allah”.
He stressed that the people should always marvel and contemplate on the Majesty of Allah.
The cleric also urged the people to show gratitude to Allah, because it is Allah that created all that is within the heaven and earth and it is He that provides for every thing in it.
Adding that “Allah created everything that surround humanity as a mercy upon them from their creator.”
He also call on the people to always remember the day of judgement, he opined that Only Allah that can protect anyone and Nothing of this worldly material will safe anyone on the day Qiyamah but the mercy of Allah.
Also in his remark, Alasela warned the Muslim against consumption of Alcohol and hard drugs, according to the Imam, “they diminish the sanity of a person and bring one closer to lunacy.
The Imam also encouraged the Muslims to be dutiful to their parents, because filial piety is a quality that Allah through the holy books have enjoined the people to have.
