CAFCL: Enyimba beat Rahimo away; Plateau Utd fall to Simba in Jos

Enyimba got off their CAF Champions League campaign to a perfect start with a 1-0 away win against Burkinabe side Rahimo FC at the August 4 Stadium, Ouagadougou yesterday.
Substitute Victor Mbaoma scored the decisive goal 14 minutes from time. The striker’s header from Anayo Iwuala’s corner -kick hit the woodwork and went straight into the net.
In Jos, Nigeria’s other representative in the competition Plateau United lost 1-0 to Tanzanian champions Simba SC.
Clatous Chama netted the winning goal for the visitors in the 53rd minute.
Plateau United will need to score twice without conceding in the second leg to secure a place in the first round.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Kano Pillars went down to a 3-1 defeat against Senegalese club ASC Jaraaf in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg tie at the Stade Demba Diop on Saturday.
Pillars took the lead through David Ebuka in the 12th minute. The advantage lasted only five minutes before Zakky Bassane equalised for the home team.
Jaraaf took the lead for the first time in the game seven minutes before the break with Samba Diallo nodding home from inside the box.
Suraj Ayeleso made a number of vital saves to keep Pillars in the game afterwards. The hosts however extended their through Lubasse Gulye 10 minutes from time.
Rivers United also lost 2-1 to Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea at the Estadio de Mongomo on Saturday.
Nkama Gregoire put the hosts ahead late in the first half, nodding home from close range.
Futuro Kings doubled their advantage in the 68th minute.
Godwin Aguda reduced the deficit when he converted from the spot 13 minutes from time.
All the reverse fixtures for all the four encounters will hold next weekend in Nigeria.
