How Kwara NSCDC nabbed Pastor, herbalist, 3 others for rituals – Source

Facts have emerged last night on how five suspects paraded for
possession of human parts among other ritual materials in Ilorin were
nabbed by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps
(NSCDC), Kwara State Command.
Speaking with our reporter yesterday, a top official of the NSCDC in
the state who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak
with the press said one of the suspects, Abdulrasheed Akorede lifted
the lid on the issue.
According to him, after discovering that the principal suspect,
Babatunde Kawu was using human parts for rituals at his Harmony
Estate, Akerebiata residence, Akorede went to him and demanded for
bribe threatening to expose him if he fails to comply.
“The principal suspect gave Akorede the sum of N150,000 to keep sealed
lips over the matter but after collecting the bribe, the latter went
back to Kawu’s house to demand for more money.
“The action led to an argument between the principal suspect and
Akorede and in the process, the Surveillance Team of NSCDC got a tip
off and later took up the matter for investigation.
“The operatives of the Command subsequently invaded the area and
arrested the two suspects for investigation which led to the arrest of
their accomplice,” the source divulged.
Speaking further, he said, two other suspects; Azeez Ayuba and Hassan
Saka were nabbed through phone tracking adding that the pastor was
arrested in the same community the principal suspect resides.
Recall that the state Commandant of NSCDC, Bello Ale during a press
briefing on Monday in Ilorin gave names of the suspects arrested as;
Babatunde Kawu, 55, prime suspect, Hassan Saka, 27, Abdulrasheed
Akorede, 35, Azeez Ayuba, 35 and Ayo Sunday, 35 (known as Prophet).
Ale, said that the suspects were arrested on Nov. 27, following
reliable information received at the Command.
“We received information about the suspects and we immediately swung into action
“Upon arrest, we realised that the suspects were in possession of
different human parts, both fresh and dried parts, consisting of human
skull, bones, and human hair and some mixtures with offensive odour,”
he said.
He stated that two people were initially arrested, but upon
interrogation, the other three suspects were arrested and they all
claimed to have gotten the human parts from cemetery.
He however said that investigation was ongoing to know more about the
suspects and arrest more people that are involved in the nefarious
act, before prosecution.
The commandant advised the people of the state to stop associating
with herbalist, rather they should put their faith in God and worship
Him through the religion of Islam or Christianity.
Ale promised that the Command will ensure that all forms of
criminality in the state will come to an end.

…recovers 22,000 ltrs of petrol from pipe line vandals in Ilorin

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recovered
22,000 liters of petroleum product from some vandals in Ilorin.
The state Commandant of NSCDC, Bello Ale disclosed this on Monday
during a press conference at the Command headquarters, Ilorin.
Ale said that the command received an information on the suspected
vandalism of oil pipe line behind University of Ilorin Teaching
Hospital.
“By the time we got to the scene, the suspects had already broken the
oil pipe line and extracted 22,000 liters tank of petroleum product
with some reasonable numbers of galons
“Immediately they saw us, they started shooting and we retaliated,
after the serious sporadical shooting, the suspects escaped and left
the oil tanker, with other equipment used in committing the crime,”
Ale said.
The commandant said that the petroleum product was handed over to the
Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) and the tanker was
returned to the command as exhibit.
He said that NNPC engaged the services of Joint Task Force and a
private company (NULGE) to supervise and secure the oil pipe lines
Ale assured the government, NNPC and the people of the state to
continue to work hard and ensure that all the pipe lines in the state
are well secured.
