A 36-year-old Arabic teacher, Abdulraheem Fasasi, who was allegedly
nabbed with female underwear was granted bail on Tuesday by the
magistrate court, sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The defendant (Fasasi), was dragged before Magistrate Ajayi for the
offence of theft of used pants.
The police First Information Report revealed that Fasasi was arrested
by Operation Harmony Patrol Team led by Inspt Ismaila Maliki at Otte
Area of Ilorin on 7th November, 2019.
The FIR added that the police stopped a bus with registration number:
BD 186 XD and when search was conducted on it, the female underwears
were recovered.
It stated that a black polythene bag containing three female used
pants and one bra was discovered beside where the defendant was
sitting, inside the bus.
During an investigation conducted at the Anti Human Trafficking, the
FIR disclosed that the defendant confessed that he stole the pants and
bra at Gbaba Aribidesi Street, Ilorin.
The prosecutor, Inspector Zacchaeus informed the court that the
despondent should be remanded in Correctional Service centre.
He submitted further that the defendant may commit similar crime if
not remanded.
The defendant counsel, Toyin Onaolapo, prayed the court to
discountenance the prayer of the prosecutor saying the offence doesn’t
attract capital penalty.
Onaolapo added that his client is not guilty of the alleged offence
yet, until proven otherwise by the court saying Fasasi should still be
allowed to enjoy his fundamental human right.
The magistrate in his ruling, admitted the defendant to bail, with two
sureties even as he adjourned the matter to 2nd December, 2019.
