Friendly Match: Ilorin Young Lawyers hits Sure Babes for 3
In a match played under a friendly atmoshpere, the Young Lawyers’ Forum (YLF) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin branch, Kwara State, trashed Sure Babes Football Club 3 – 0.
The match was played at the Agricultural and Rural Management Institute (ARMTI) during the three days retreat programme orgarnised by the YLF.
After a slow start, YLF got the curton raiser just 15 minutes into first half of the match.
Barr. Sarafadeen Abdulraheem who works with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) secured two goals for his team, YLF.
The last goal was scored by Abiola Abdulrasheed of Ganiyu Bello & Co. at the second half of the match.
All attempts of the Sure Babes FC to put ball into the YLF’s net proved abortive.
Speaking to Pilot Sports after the match, the chairman of the YLF, Barr. Dauda Olayinka Jimoh expressed delight over the game saying goals scored by colleagues were clean ones.
He added that though the Sure Babes FC were professional players but the YLF used the skill of a man to outsmart them.
“To me the game is clean, the two teams have shown their skills, in any contest, somebody must win, but I want to appreciate the Sure Babes, they’re professional players, but you know they’re playing with men…” Jimoh stressed.
The game since it was played has continued to draw reactions from legal practitioners especially the senior members of the Bar.
Some were of the opinion that the Sure Babes FC played better, matured game but the YLF being men, used gender to beat them.
Another factor mentioned to have worked against the Sure Babes FC was that the game was played in what appeared like a home for the YLF.
The YLF FC were said to have paraded much supporters which according to some lawyers pose as an intimidating factor for the Sure Babes FC.
