Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Hon.Razak Atunwa has promised to patronise and empower local contractors in the state if elected as the next governor in the forthcoming election.
Atunwa, during a campaign rally across communities in Moro Local Government Area of the state said it has become imperative to ensure that local businesses are brought into the mainstream of government programmes through patronage.
He said, “You are all in politics because it should yield something to you in return and the only way we can achieve this is to ensure that we patronise you at your local level. So under our administration, we will ensure that we do that, giving jobs to local contractors, who have the capacity for excellent work.”
The gubernatorial hopeful who promised to run a people-oriented administration lamented the rate of unemployment among youths across the country, adding that he has put in place strategic intervention mechanism to salvage the situation in Kwara State.
At Shao, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed told the Ohoro of Shao, Alhaji Bamidele Adegbite that Atunwa will consolidate on the programmes of his administration.
“The PDP candidate, Rt. Hon. Razak Atunwa will consolidate on the progress and achievements recorded in Kwara,” Ahmed said.
He noted that Atunwa has a sound understanding of the workings of the state government, owing to his demonstrated track record of public service.
He added, “There is no other governorship candidate that can boast of a rich intermixture of executive and legislative experience.”
Ahmed reassured that Atunwa as governor will deliver sustained prosperity to the people of Kwara State.
Responding, the Ohoro of Shao, thanked the Governor for his sustained investment in infrastructure and promised that the people of his community will continue to support to the present administration and the PDP.
In attendance were thousands of supporters and party chieftains.
