Kwara FA elections: Olokoba, Wopa, Idris pick chairmanship forms

 

The Chairman of Ilorin East Football Council, Alhaji Sulaiman Toyin Olokoba, that of Patigi, Engr. Idris Jibril Etsu and former member of the defunct Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Board, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Adebayo Owolabi Agbaji Wopa has picked chairmanship nomination forms ahead of the Kwara State Football Association elections on February 14th.
The build up to the elections suggests that for the first time in the history of FA elections in the state, more big wigs will throw their hats into the ring for the contest, but as at yesterday evening, only three of them have declared interest in the top football job in the state.
Alhaji Olokoba, currently the SA Political to the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed has made his intentions known for a long time, and the former Chairman of Kwara United FC said that he will give it his all, to be the next Chairman.
Alhaji Olokoba, who is also former Special Assistant on Sports, is an advocate of grassroots football development, who is contributed immensely to the development of the youths through the round leather game.
Engr. Idris is also another grassroots developer, and Founder of Jibril Taka Patigi Academy. He is from the Northern part of the state, and a strong contender for the position.
Alhaji Wopa is another strong candidate and grassrooter. His support for youth teams in the state in unprecedented, and his support to Barrier SC last season was instrumental to their promotion to Nationwide League II.
He was a former footballer, public commentator and political analyst.
Alhaji Wopa, who was former Vice Chairman of Kwara United FC was a prominent football administrator in Nigeria, having served as member of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Board under the leadership of Victor Ransom Baribote.
Only one candidate has so far picked from to contest for the post of Vice Chairman. He is former Kwara United goalkeeper, Abdulkadri Shuaib, who is currently with the Kwara Football Academy.
