“No amount of FG’s intimidation will stop Kwarans from voting Saraki, PDP in 2019” 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has raised the alarm over alleged vandalisation of campaign billboards, posters and other materials of its candidates in some parts of Ilorin, the State capital.
The party noted that such intimidation from the Federal Government backed All Progressives Congress (APC) will not stop Kwarans from voting in for the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019.
The party said last week, some hoodlums loyal to a faction of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Kwara vandalised boards and defaced campaign posters of candidates of our party including that of our leader and Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
It said the move was most noted on Tuesday on  the eve of last week’s visit of presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Peter Obi and other party leaders for the PDP North Central presidential campaign rally held in Ilorin.
According to the Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ashaolu in a press statement, the hoodlums were led by a notorious APC thug nicknamed SOJ “whom we learnt has been arrested by the police following the petition by the local security committee of the PDP presidential campaign rally committee.
The party condemned the “despicable act of vandalism and call on security agencies in the State to check this trend as it is capable of leading to political violence.
It also appealed to its teeming members and supporters not to recipocrate with such barbaric acts.
According to the party, “unlike the APC, our party will never resort to destruction of campaign materials and other acts of violence. As the ruling party in the State, we have always tolerated the desperate antics of the opposition.
“However, we want the APC to note that no party or group has monopoly of violence. We, therefore, warn the APC that our party will not subscribe to violence or intimidation of any sort, which they have been perpetrating with the backing of the Federal Government.
“The APC needs to understand that no amount of intimidation will deter the good people of Kwara State from supporting our leader, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and voting candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming general elections. PDP remains the party of the people.
