…holds dinner, Saturday
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin branch will on Saturday decorate four Kwara-born Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) with outstanding awards.
SANs lined up for recognition are; the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Joseph Sunday Bamigboye, Wahab Egbewole and Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi.
Also expected to be honoured are the three past administrations under the leadership of Chief Rafiu Oyeyemi Balogun, Idris Mobolaji Ojibara and Isaa Manzuma.
The event is expected to take place 6pm at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin.
Speaking on the choice of recipients, the NBA Chairman, Idowu Muhammed Akande stressed that they were singled out for honour given their contributions to the development of humanity and the judiciary.
According to him, the award is a way of appreciating and reciprocating the various contributions of the individuals to the development of the judiciary.
He said, “This is the first dinner to be held under my leadership and I must commend the turn up of our members. Our awardees have done so well to deserve being honoured.
The chairman further commended the state government for providing the association with the venue for free.
Speaking on the financial implication of the event, the Chairman of the Dinner Committee who doubles as Legal Adviser to the Governor, Sulyman Atolagbe noted that the association will be expending N3million.
He said the dinner is designed to ease legal practitioners of hectic activities that is associated with the profession.
“Traditionally, we have our SANs to be conferred with special awards of honour and we are also appreciating the three past chairmen and their executives having made the association proud in all ways.
“The event will be laced with lots of entertainment as we want lawyers to enjoy themselves after working for the larger part of the year,” Atolagbe stressed.
Speaking further, he said the event will be used to lunch the NBA directory which will contain list of lawyers practising in Ilorin.
