The founder of Bayo and Bunmi Babalola Foundation, Engr Sunday Babalola has said that investment in education is imperative for the strategic development of the nation.
Babalola made this known on Thursday at the Omu Aran Town Hall, during the fourth edition of the Bayo and Bunmi Babalola Foundation 2018/2019 scholarship award.
He said the foundation will provide scholarships worth N5million to 248 beneficiaries cutting across secondary schools and tertiary institutions while another N5million will be spent on logistics, this year.
Babalola stated that since the scheme took off in 2015, the sum of N17million have been spent on scholarships and about over N2.4 million on logistics and advertisement.
He said the investments are part of the contributions of the foundation in improving the quality of education and making it accessible to indigent students.
Since education is strategic for national development, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the state, urged government at all levels to make education environment conducive enough for teaching and learning.
He dedicated this year’s event to two illustrious sons of Omu Aran, Oba Charles Oladele Ibitoye and the first military governor of Kwara State, Brig-Gen Lasisi Bamgboye, who he said had always supported the vision before their demise.
