Two middle-aged men have been arrested by the men of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS), Kwara State Police Command for burglary.
The suspects, Ayo Rasaq Jamiu and Ridwanullahi Abdulraheem, both of Ojagboro area of the state capital were nabbed for breaking into shop of one David Umeaku of Oke Suna area in the metropolis.
It was gathered that Jamiu who is an ex-convict had earlier been arrested by the police and imprisoned for similar offence.
According to a police source, the victim reported the case and named the duo as main suspects.
“The victim said he received call while he was sleeping that his shop has been broken into by burglars. He reported the case at the F-SARS office and the officers on duty responded swiftly and followed him to the scene, where they met a group of vigilantes led by one Usman Shuaibu.
“When the trader opened the shop, they discovered one of the suspects, Jamiu who covered himself with taupoline and was arrested,” he added.
The source further stated that the suspect was taken to police station for interrogation, where he confessed to the crime.
“He also revealed identity of the other suspect, which led to the arrest of Ridwanullahi,” he added.
They confessed to be notorious burglars, who have broken into several houses and carted away belongings of victims.
When contacted on the matter, the state Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi said he was yet to be briefed.
In a related development, Men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have arrested two persons for breaking into a shop in Oyun area in Ilorin, Kwara State, penultimate Friday.
The suspects, Saka Lukman and Azeez Popoola were nabbed for breaking into the shop belonging to one Jimoh Mistura, carting away items worth N250,000.
According to our source, the suspects were arrested by people in the neighbourhood and handed over to NSCDC officers, adding that the duo have confessed to the crime.
Effort to confirm the case from the state Command spokesperson, Bilesanmi Henry, proved abortive as calls put to his mobile phone did not connect.
